Lane Lowry & Randy McKnight
10032 Deercreek Club Road East
Lane Lowry and her late husband Tom built their house in 1990, it was the 20th home in Deercreek. With Deercreek becoming a large, vibrant community today, it’s hard to imagine Deercreek as such a new community. What a beautiful home to set a standard for homes in Deercreek!
About three years ago, Lane met Randy McKnight, and they decided shortly thereafter to share their life together. Randy was already a member of Deercreek so staying here was an easy decision. She said, “The people here make this a very special place, and we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
Lane’s children grew up in Deercreek and still live in the Jacksonville area. When they come for a visit, they are happy to see many of the people they knew growing up. Randy has two girls who live out of state and visit often. Randy’s youngest daughter loves Deercreek so much that she recently had her beautiful wedding here.
Lane and Randy recently redid all their landscaping; very evident when you drive by their home since it is still ‘growing in’. This time of year, it is spectacular—beds of pink muhly grass glisten in the sunlight and frame their circular driveway. Our View reporters said, “It almost gives a Tuscan feel to their whole house.”
A variety of trees and shrubs were introduced to their yard during the landscaping: crepe myrtles in with the muhly grass, queen palms next to the home’s corners, espalier magnolias along the front of the house and many others (sable and pygmy palms, viburnum, loropetalum, Asian jasmine and Encore azaleas).
In additions, they gave the front of the house a ‘browlift’ — French country style shutters! They also added uplighting along the front, and wooden accents in the backyard.
When asked about what they liked about their home now, they said “When you come home and see the things that you have added or built or planted that reflects your likes, it creates a place of rest and calm that allows you to leave the workday behind.” Great job Lane and Randy!
