Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank, 2019. Domestic, Southern fiction.
Beekeeper Holly McNee Jensen lives quietly in a world of her own on South Carolina’s Sullivan’s Island, tending her hives and working at the local library. The rest of her time is spent catering to her imperious hypochondriac of a mother, known as the Queen Bee. Years earlier, Holly’s sister Leslie fled the family drama by marrying and moving away. Holly’s refuge has been to submerge herself in the lives of the two young boys next door and their widowed father, Archie. Her world is upended when the flamboyant Leslie returns and both sisters, polar opposites, fixate on what’s happening in their neighbor’s home.
