More than 50 members of the Deercreek Home & Garden Club celebrated the season with a Holiday Brunch Open House at the lovely home of Jill and John Cole on December 16th.
The home, located on Persimmon Hill Drive, overlooks the DCC course’s sixth green and offered a picturesque view as the ladies dined on a scrumptious brunch fare provided by members of the HGC Board. The menu featured a variety of egg casseroles, a hashbrown casserole and a French toast casserole, along with shrimp and grits, deviled eggs, ham and rolls, spinach salad, breakfast breads, and cookies. To honor the diversity of the neighborhood, Board members prepared Kugel dishes to remember Hanukkah and Pavlova, a meringue dessert favored in Europe and Australia.
The time together provided abundant opportunities for members in their festive fashions to relax and catch up with friends and neighbors while discovering holiday plans and gatherings. Many members said the event had been their favorite time of the holiday season.
Those in attendance received a name tag to use during HGC activities. Tags for those not present will be distributed at the January meeting.
The brunch highlighted a busy month for the Home and Garden Club members. At the beginning of December, members helped decorate the Club House, Guard House and entrance of the community to spread holiday joy to residents and guests.
On December 9th, the HGC and the Deercreek Club jointly sponsored the annual Luminary Night, which drew more than 100 in attendance to the family-oriented event to kick off the holiday season. The celebration included food trucks and dessert stations, children’s games and crafts, a bounce house and photographs—all surrounded by the beauty of the luminary candles.
