On Tuesday, September 17, a group of Home and Garden Club members toured the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. Located on Riverside Avenue along the St. Johns River, the museum is an historic, cultural location in Jacksonville. The museum was established in 1958 when Ninah Cummer bequeathed her home and gardens to house her collection of 60 works of art. The museum now houses over 5000 pieces and hosts special showings of artists during each year.
Due to our number, we were split into 3 groups, each led by a docent, who called attention to important works of art and features of the museum. A highlight of each group was a walk through the three historic gardens (English Garden, Italian Garden and Olmstead Garden) along the river.
After the tour, the group lunched at Anejo Cocina Riverside.
