Common Property Update

Dec 18, 2023

This has been a busy season for the Common Property Committee both with completing planned projects and dealing with unexpected situations. Some of these projects and situations included:

  • Clearing sewer drain blockages that caused flooding on Bay Tree La., Ashworth Ct. and Bishop Lake W.
  • Replacing irrigation pumps, and electrical control panels
  • Repairing irrigation systems on the islands at Heather Lake W., and Heather Lake E.
  • Restoring irrigation on Rittenhouse La.
  • Dealing with pond algae due to the lack of rain and extreme hot weather
  • Repairing the brick monuments that face Southside Blvd.
  • Triming more than 50 trees from our entrance to Abington Hills La.
  • Power washing signs, monuments, the guardhouse, deer statutes, the playground pavilion, 22 benches, 42 light poles, and over 4500 feet of sidewalk
  • Painting the two main signs facing Southside Blvd., above the fountains
  • Maintenance and repair of our fountains
  • Replacing flowers on Southside Blvd.
  • Replacing signs at the guardhouse and stop signs throughout the community thanks to the work of Tommy Walters and Dave Stelbrink
  • Finalizing the agreement to have carp installed in 74% of our pond acreage during the Spring, 2024
  • Initiated, with the approval of the Board, plans to provide aeration to ponds 13 and 14 (adjacent to the green on hole 18 and the tee box on hole 10) during the Spring 2024

During the holiday season I’m sure most of us appreciate the wonderful decorations that have been installed along the median and elsewhere including lights, ornaments, flowers, wreathes and more. These decorations are to due to the efforts of Lane Lowry, Barb Smith, Gary Smith, Beth Malvelle, Danny Connors, and Keith Smith.

I know that I speak for the entire Committee wishing each of you the happiest of holidays and a healthy and peaceful New Year.

Finally, I’d like to remind each of you that our Committee welcomes your suggestions regarding any common area in our community. As they say, “if you see something, say something.”

Thank you,
Gregg Flynn
