On May 5, the HGC hosted a luncheon for Deercreek’s landscape and golf course maintenance staff at the tennis club’s back patio. The lunch is an annual Home & Garden Club tradition to thank the landscaping staff for keeping Deercreek beautiful. And, to thank them for cleanups after storms and keeping our roads, common areas and golf course in pristine condition.
The event was organized by HGC members Marcia Rose and Debi Gifford, coordinating with Danny Connors. It was a group effort by HGC volunteers, who prepared and served a picnic-style noon meal to the 20 landscaping personnel. The meal featured Publix fried chicken along with member-prepared sides: salads and slaw, baked beans and Party Potatoes, watermelon and chocolate chip cookies. A bonus was hand-made chocolate ‘golf ball’ turtle-style cups, each individually wrapped and made specially for the luncheon by Rose Hester. To top it off, each worker received a Chick-fil-A gift card!
