From the Access Control Committee July 2026

Jun 18, 2026

The first thought of July 4, which is very special this year, can be fireworks and gatherings. Be aware though, no fireworks are allowed in Deercreek for the following reasons:

  • The ones that explode or go into the air are illegal in Duval County, Jacksonville and therefore Deercreek.
  • All types are dangerous from an injury standpoint and from the capability for starting fires.
  • The fire danger that has existed may be somewhat less than previous, but it still exists in places.
  • Last, but certainly not least, be courteous to your neighbors. We have residents who have PTSD which is exacerbated by loud noises, and the same loud noises can cause difficulties for pets.
  • Bottom line, do not use fireworks.

EVENTS and GATHERINGS!

  • If you are having events, be sure to get guest names in the gate system at least 24 HOURS in advance.
  • If you choose to use a paper list of guest names, have the list in last name alphabetical order and delivered to the guard gate at least 48 HOURS before the event.
  • Guests whose names are not on the list may be turned away because the guards will not have time to make courtesy calls during busy times.
  • Make sure to remind guests to have their drivers license out for the guard BEFORE they get to the visitor gate which also means all drivers must have valid drivers’ licenses.
  • Walkers and bikers are still being seen walking in the roads with backs to the traffic and wearing ear buds. Couple that with dark clothing after full daylight, the danger increases exponentially. Bikers riding against the traffic are disobeying the rule of riding with the traffic as well as taking chances of traffic meeting them coming around a corner. Personal safety is just that, personal safety. Make wise decisions.
  • The sidewalks of Deercreek are constantly monitored for unsafe conditions, and any that are found should be reported to the property manager. The sidewalks should also be used in a courteous manner with walkers, runners, and people with pets. In Deercreek, share the road also applies to sidewalks.
  • It’s summer, remember to lock all vehicles and leave nothing of value in sight. Better still, leave nothing of value in a vehicle.
  • Lock your residence when not at home.
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
