A scenic view of the Mediterranean coast and beautiful blue and white vases with yellow lemons drew participants to the blue waters of the Côte d’Azur. Tablescapes featuring fresh lemon arrangements, blue and white striped table runners, and soft yellow and blue accents also invited guests to the idyllic French Riviera during the Deercreek Home & Garden Club’s Spring Fashion Show, held March 24 at the Deercreek Country Club.
The theme,“Haute Couture of the Côte d’Azur,“ drew more than 100 guests to “ooh and aah” over the fabulous, fashion-forward clothes that were modeled during the event. Wearing the newest in casual, dress and formal styles were models Lucy Babik, Jade Han, Rhonda Hawk, Joyce Hunt, Eileen Katibah, Stacy Watson May, Christy Schwartz, Ann Shearer, Lola Vavrica and Julia Watkins. Veteran HGC member Jill Cole emceed the show, describing each of the styles and fabrics.
Guests also took their chances at winning 35 luxurious gifts donated by members and local businesses. The gifts included purses, makeup, restaurant gift cards, baskets of wine, specialty foods, sporting accessories and lessons, cosmetics and home décor accessories. Each gift was valued at least $100 with some exceeding $400-$500. Members Linda and Bunny George smoothly handled the raffle sales during the event. The raffle raised $3800, the highest amount ever. Proceeds from the raffle and luncheon will benefit the HGC’s community beautification projects.
The journey to the exotic French coast was enhanced by a menu of Nicoise salad and chicken piccata over pasta, prepared by Deercreek’s own Chef Jason and culinary staff. Mini fruit tarts and chocolate cookies encased in decorated lemon-flavored icing enticed even the most ardent weight watcher to consume. The delicious cookies were handmade and gifted by club member Rose Hester.
Each guest received a complimentary welcome glass of bubbles and generous discount coupons from Dillard’s for guests to acquire their own spring fashion.
Special thanks were given to all members who assisted with the event, including Janet Daechsel, Karen Sayre and Mica Brown for coordinating the models and their wardrobe; Cary Flynn for spearheading the raffle donations; and Cynthia Bollini for creating all printed pieces.
The annual fashion show was truly a gift presented to the Deercreek community that involved participation from over 50 Home and Garden members.
Appreciation is also given to the Deercreek Country Club staff who provided unique services to make the journey to the French Riviera enjoyable for all.
