From the Access Control Committee

Nov 1, 2022

The Holidays are rapidly approaching, and gift buying will soon be in full swing. Think safety when buying gifts, especially for children and young people. Motorized scooters and bicycles are the rages right now, but they are also among the most unsafe vehicles around, not only because of who operates them, but their size causing an inability to be seen. Plus, they are not allowed on Deercreek Roads if being operated by unlicensed riders.

Thanksgiving and other holidays are just around the corner. Begin now planning gatherings and always please enter your guests’ names on the gate system at least 24 hours in advance. Also, please remind guests of the speed limit in Deercreek and to stop at stop signs.

As always, but particularly during this Holiday Season, be ever watchful for your security and your possessions’ security. If shopping, be aware of your surroundings and stay in well-lit areas at all times. Even while parked at residences in Deercreek all vehicles should be locked with no valuables in sight. Homes should be locked as well. Deercreek is a restricted-access community, not a secure community. Packages left at the front doors can be attractive as well. There are lots of external visitors in Deercreek every day. Taking packages left at doors could be an easy task.

The bottom line, in November and December, which are generally festive times, everyone’s sense of security and safety should be heightened in order that the season remains as festive as possible.
