Updates and News from the Deercreek Woman's Alliance
Our Books-A-Go-Go book drive held in August was a huge success!!
Natalie Jackson and Betty Metz would like to thank you for your VERY generous donation of books to the Books-A-Go-Go book drive this year. They collected 480 books! They sent 200 books to the children in the Bahamas and gave the rest to Duval County schools in need.
Once again, the members of the DWA have gone above and beyond with their kindness and generosity.
At the end of September, another generous group people from Deercreek prepared and served a meal to those at Gabriel House of Care, where residents stay while receiving treatment for cancer or transplants. We usually pick a theme to include music & decorations, and this time, the residents requested ‘Meatloaf’ so everyone found their favorite recipe to make and serve. It's fun & so rewarding! Consider joining us next time – see the Save the Dates section & email email@example.com for more information.
In September, a group of ladies attended the ‘2019 Sulzbacher Transformations: from Surviving to Thriving!’ fundraising event at the Times-Union Center. They met and heard from former clients who not only overcame their homelessness but went on to live happy, independent and productive lives. The evening included live music and a silent auction, as well as dinner and drinks.
In August, we told the story of the new ‘Mrs Mary’s Boutique’ at PACE. Following on from that story, here are some photos from the September shopping event which show how much nicer the area is for the girls to choose their clothes and accessories bought with hard-earned ‘points’. There is also a picture of just one delivery being made to PACE by Vicki Khan, showing how generous the ladies of Deercreek are!
