A Train in Winter
In October the Literary Circle will read and discuss A Train in Winter by Caroline Moorehead.
This remarkable book is the story of 230 French women, who were rounded up by the Gestapo and sent to Auschwitz. It is about who they were, how and why they joined the French Resistance, how they were captured, their journey to Auzchwitz and their daily life in the death camps, and what it was like for the 49 survivors when they returned to France. Six of the women were still alive in 2010 and able to tell their stories of the great affection and camaraderie that took hold among the group. They became friends, and it was this friendship that kept them alive.
The next meeting will be at the home of Cary Flynn on Monday, Oct. 19th at 10:00am. For more information about this group please contact Mary Louise Selzer at 363-1618 or MLSelzer@comcast.net
