Mandarin Food Bank PB&J Drive – June 1st – 15th
During the first two weeks of June, there will be a food drive for peanut butter and jelly. The DWA holds this drive during the summer months when children stay at home and cannot take advantage of the free and reduced-price school lunches. There will be a bin by the guardhouse for donations, or they can be dropped at the home of Carmen Kelly at 10139 Bishop Lake Road. Your support is greatly appreciated.
The Deercreek Women’s Alliance raises funds through both your annual dues, and our fundraising events, and these funds are distributed across a number of local charities. The chosen charities for this year are Bag Ladies; Books-A-Go-Go; Families of Slain Children (FOSCI); Gabriel House; Jacksonville Humane Society; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Literacy Pros of Jacksonville; Little Hats, Big Hearts; Mandarin Food Bank; New Heights; PACE Center for Girls; Ronald McDonald House; Research is the Answer (RITA); and Sulzbacher.
Some of these charities need us to run drives – some are on-going as listed below and in every newsletter; some of these also have specific needs at specific times, such as the Mandarin Food Bank’s Peanut Butter & Jelly drive this month whilst others only have these requests at specific times, such as the Ronald McDonald Easter basket drive earlier this year (which you can see the results of below). In addition, some of our charities may ask for volunteers to help with specific projects, such as the Teens for Trac event via FOSCI below, or the New Heights Fashion and Talent Show in April.
In all cases, the need for assistance is continually growing, and we are fortunate to be in a position to help those charities who supply this much needed help. The DWA has been going strong for over 20 years, and we thank you all for your support.
