Literary Circle June 2016

Our book selection for the month of June is Red Notice by Bill Browder, a true story of high finance, murder, and one man’s fight for justice. A real life thriller about an American-born financier in the wild East of Russia, the murder of his principled young attorney, and his dangerous mission to expose the people responsible in the Kremlin.

Bill Browder started out his adult life as a Wall Street maverick whose instincts led him to Russia just after the break up of the Soviet Union, where he made his fortune. But when he went after corruption in the Russian government, he barely escaped with his life. His Russian lawyer wasn’t so lucky: he ended up in jail, where he was tortured to death. This changed Browder forever. He saw the murderous heart of Putin regime and has spent the last half decade fighting it. The story of one man taking on overpowering odds to change the world, and also the story of how he found meaning in life.

We will meet at the home of Arlene McDermott at 10:00 on Monday, June 20th.
