Literary Circle is reading- December
Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie
Each year in December we try to read a Christmas book or story related to the holiday season. This year we are reading an Agatha Christie Mystery, titled "Hercule Poirot's Christmas." Agatha Christie is the most widely published author of all time, in any language, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare.
Christmas Eve, and the Lee family's reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throats slashed. When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man.
We will gather at the home of Phyllis Basford on Dec 12 at 10:00 for discussion
Followed by a cookie exchange. Everyone will bring 3 dozen cookies to share.
